Grey Lynn Business Association BID Update: What’s Next?
Kia ora Grey Lynn Business Community,
We’re thrilled to announce that our voting campaign to establish the Grey Lynn Business Association (GLBA) as a Business Improvement District (BID) was successful! A huge thank you to everyone who participated and supported this milestone.
However, the journey doesn’t end here—there are several important steps we must take before officially becoming a BID on 1 July 2025.
Key Milestones and Actions

Special General Meeting (SGM). We’ll be holding a SGM to:

Elect committee members under the new BID-aligned constitution.

Ratify the ballot result and reconfirm approval of BID documents.

Approve the new constitution aligned with Auckland Council’s BID Policy.

Consider updates for compliance with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

Timing: The SGM will take place before 1 April 2025. Stay tuned for details on the date, venue, and time.
2. Council Consultation on the Annual Budget: Auckland Council will include the new GLBA BID targeted rate in their draft 2025/2026 Annual Budget consultation.
3. Public Feedback-February/March 2025. We encourage all members to participate in this consultation to share your views on the proposed BID rate.
4. GLBA BID Establishment Project Report: A comprehensive report outlining our compliance with BID policy requirements will be submitted to Auckland Council. Timing: Submission by 1 April 2025.
5. Waitematā Local Board Presentation: In April or May 2025, the GLBA and council staff will present to the Waitematā Local Board. This presentation will:
6. Official BID Establishment:
Request approval from the Governing Body to set the new BID targeted rate for 2025/2026.
If all steps are completed successfully, the new BID programme and targeted rate will come into effect on 1 July 2025.
